Canon announce EOS 600D and EOS 1100D

Canon have today announced two new models in the EOS range.

The EOS 1100D replaces the EOS 1000D and is the bottom of the range EOS model. You can read about is specifications at DPReview. They also have a hands-on preview of the model here.

The camera can be pre-ordered from Warehouse Express for £499 with the EF-S 18-55mm f3.5-5.6 IS II lens or for £419 body only.

Like the EOS 550D before it, the 600D sits between the 550D and the 60D; the EOS 500D now retires. This model gains a new articulated LCD amongst a few other nice features. The resolutions remains at 18MP; I do like the “scrappy” look of this camera. You can read about is specifications at DPReview; they also have a hands-on preview of the model here.

The camera can be pre-ordered from Warehouse Express for £769 with the EF-S 18-55mm f3.5-5.6 IS II lens, £679 body only or £949 with the EF-S 18-135mm f3.5-5.6 IS II lens. I would recommend that anyone interested in purchasing this camera goes for the body only model and then add a much better Lens; either the Canon EF-S 15-85mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM Lens for £599 or the Canon EF-S 17-55mm f2.8 IS USM Lens for £799.

Canon have put a “EOS 600D and EOS 1100D product walkthrough video” on You Tube about the new models:
