New Family of Zeiss Lenses for Mirrorless System Cameras

At Photokina, Zeiss announced that they are going to release some Zeiss lenses for the various Mirror-less (Compact System Camera) mounts including the E-Mount used by the NEX family.

The initial focal lengths (all primes) will be:

  • 12mm f/2.8
  • 32mm f/1.8
  • 50mm macro f/2.8

More information can be found at the Zeiss blog here.

To say that I am more that a little bit excited is a vast understatement. These are all autofocus lenses with full metering and full connectivity for the NEX system cameras. 🙂

Camera manufacturers are releasing some amazing cameras now but the lens seem to be second thoughts. No matter if your a Canon/Nikon User, Sony NEX/Alpha User or Micro Four-Thirds User, key lens are either missing or not up to the job of matching the great image quality we have now from todays sensors. This is where companies like Zeiss, Voiglander etc are coming to the fore. There are some great high quality lens coming from these old classic lens manufacturers.
